Twentieth Century Romance and Historical Writers
Sorry, description is temporarily unavailable.
This text is part of a five-volume series covering English-language authors writing in the various "popular" fiction genres. Each volume in the series is revised every five years. Each entry includes: a biography; a complete bibliography; details of other published bibliographies and locations of manuscript collections; a list of critical studies on the writer; in many cases, comment by the writer on his/her own work; and a signed critical essay. This revised edition focuses on 539 modern authors writing romance or historical works. It has been expanded with the inclusion of 90 authors new to this edition. Authors are included who are not usually associated with these genres, for example, Toni Morrison and Jeanette Winterson. A new section in each entry covers film adaptations. Supposedly "explicit" authors whose work has previously been banned (for example, Radclyffe Hall and Norah James) are also included. Finally, there is a wider coverage of historical writers - extended to include any author concentrating on time periods up to 1945.Academics, researchers, librarians, students and teachers, together with all who take an interest in romance and historical writers, should find this reference source useful.
